Serve

Use your God-given gifts to make a difference

Sign Up to Serve

At Zion on the Hill, we believe serving is a joyful response to God's love and an essential part of living out our faith. When we serve, we not only share Christ's love with others, but also grow in our own discipleship, build meaningful relationships, and make a difference in our church, community, and world. Whether through worship, outreach, fellowship or acts of care, each opportunity to serve is a chance to use the gifts God has given us to bless others and bring hope to those in need.

Music Ministry

Zion's Music Ministry offers a variety of ways to lift your voice and spirit in praise. Our contemporary bands bring energy and joy to worship: Noiz leads the Saturday 5:30 PM service; Windswept leads the Sunday 10 AM service; and Leap of Faith leads once a month at both contemporary services.

For those who love traditional worship, Zion's Choir sings at the 8 AM service from September through May.

Whether you sing or play an instrument, all are welcome to join – sign up by clicking the "Sign Up to Serve" button above.

Our Music Ministry also offers two different scholarships to those studying music:

Worship Assistants

Worship at Zion is made possible through the gifts and service of many hands and hearts. There are a variety of ways to serve during our services, including as a:

Teams

Faith Formation Team

Faith, fun, and fellowship form the foundation of Faith Formation at Zion. Through classes, worship, and service-learning opportunities, our goal is to equip children, youth, and adults to live as strong ambassadors for Christ. This team supports that mission through a variety of faith formation offerings.

Fellowship Team

The Fellowship Team helps nurture a warm, supportive, and unified community at Zion. This team organizes social gatherings, receptions, and events that strengthen friendships within the congregation while also supporting men's and women's groups. It assists families during funerals, promotes goodwill, and encourages community spirit.

Outreach Team

The Outreach Team leads Zion's efforts to share the gospel with our neighbors and invite others into the life of the congregation. Through programs like new member orientation, discipleship opportunities, and the "We Are Wednesdays" night gatherings, this team helps integrate new members and encourage Christian living in daily life.

Property Team

The Property Team is responsible for maintaining and safeguarding Zion's facilities and equipment. This includes overseeing repairs, replacements, and maintenance contracts. By ensuring our church building and grounds are well cared for, this team provides a safe, welcoming space for worship, fellowship, and community ministry.

Service Ministry Team

The Service Ministry Team extends Christian love and compassion to those in need across the greater York area, the nation, and the world. Its work reaches the ill, the elderly, single parents, children, the poor, the imprisoned, and all who seek care in body or spirit. The team partners with local and global organizations to address these needs while also studying social concerns and bringing thoughtful proposals for action to the Congregation Council. By putting faith into action, the Service Ministry Team embodies Christ's call to serve "the least of these."

Grow 2030

In 2025, Zion on the Hill marks 30 years on the hilltop – an age of maturity, experience, and readiness to change the world for Christ, just as biblical leaders (Joseph, David, Jesus) found at 30. From 2025–2030, we embark on Grow 2030, a five-year vision rooted in speaking the truth in love, growing up into Christ (Ephesians 4:15), expanding God's Kingdom through worship, community, and mission.

Join us in our mission of growth in faith, serving and expanding the church of God by assisting in one of the following task forces:

Digital Identity & Presence

Romans 10:15 – "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

This ministry envisions a faithful, digital presence reflecting Zion's mission to a wider world. Through storytelling, livestreams, online engagement, and communication, we will help sow seeds of faith in the digital space.

Christ-Centered Connections

Matthew 22:39 – "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

This work will deepen our relationships inside the church and beyond. By nurturing new partnerships and strengthening hospitality, we will become a more welcoming and connected community.

Transforming Lives

1 Corinthians 2:2 – "For I resolved to know nothing ... except Jesus Christ …"

This focus invites us into deeper spiritual growth. Bible studies, mentoring, and faith practices will help people of all ages know Christ more intimately and walk in the freedom and joy of transformed lives.

Infrastructure for Generations

Psalm 78:4 – "We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord..."

This vision looks to the future with hope and intention. As we steward our buildings and spaces, we dream of a campus that is more accessible, more welcoming, and more vibrant.

Inspiring Stewardship & Generosity

2 Corinthians 9:7 – "God loves a cheerful giver …"

This area seeks to grow a culture of cheerful giving and faithful stewardship. Through education, storytelling, and practical tools, we will encourage a spirit of generosity that sustains ministry.

Local Ministry Partners

At Zion, we believe serving our neighbors is at the heart of living out Christ's love. We are grateful to partner with local ministries and community organizations that provide food for the hungry, shelter and care for the homeless, and resources for those in need. By supporting these partners, we extend our reach beyond our walls and join hands with others who are making a real difference in the York community and beyond.
