What Times Are Your Worship Services? Zion offers 4 times for worship each weekend. Our first service begins at 5:30 pm on Saturday evening. This service is a multimedia style worship experience and features our band Noiz. Zion offers two traditional worship services on Sunday morning at 8:00 am and 11:00 am. Another multimedia style service is the feature of our 9:30 am Sunday morning service featureing our band Windswept. For a complete description of the services at Zion, visit our Services Section.
What about Childcare at Zion? Zion offers a full feature nursery staffed with staff members and volunteers. When you drop off your child in the nursery you will receive a pager. This way our nursery staff can contact you in case of a problem. As an added saftey feature you cannot pick up your child without first presenting your pager. Stop by the nursery anytime during worship and talk with our staff and volunteers.
What Sunday School Programs Does Zion Offer? Zion offers a wide range of Sunday School classes. Everything for Elementary youth to Adult classes. These classes change constantly. Check the services page or the church announcements for information on the current classes we are offering.
Is there a class for new members? Yes. Zion offers a very informative orientation session for new members each month. During the orientation you learn about the Lutheran religion, Martin Luther, history of the church, and more. The orientation day and times are listed on the church events calendar. Where is Zion located? Zion is on Brandywine Lane in York, Pennsylvania. It is easily accessable from Route 30 and Interstate 83. For maps and directions to Zion visit the directions page.
Can someone show me around Zion? Of course! Stop by the Information Booth in the narthex before or after any service and ask for a tour. One of our tour guides will be happy to show you around.
What do Lutherans Believe? 1. This church confesses the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 2. This church confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe - Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnate, through whom everything was made and through whose life, death, and resurrection God fashions a new creation. - The proclamation of God's message to us as both Law and Gospel is the Word of God, revealing judgment and mercy through word and deed, beginning with the Word in creation, continuing in the history of Israel, and centering in all its fullness in the person and work of Jesus Christ. - The canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the written Word of God. Inspired by God's Spirit speaking through their authors, they record and announce God's revelation centering in Jesus Christ. Through them God's Spirit speaks to us to create and sustain Christian faith and fellowship for service in the world. 3. This church accepts the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of its proclamation, faith, and life. 4. This church accepts the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds as true declarations of the faith of this church. 5. This church accepts the Unaltered Augsburg Confession as a true witness to the Gospel, acknowledging as one with it In faith and doctrine all churches that likewise accept the teachings of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession. 6. This church accepts the other confessional writings in the Book of Concord, namely, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles and the Treatise, the Small Catechism, the Large Catechism, and the Formula of Concord, as further valid interpretations of the faith of the Church. 7.This church confesses the Gospel, recorded in the Holy Scriptures and confessed in the ecumenical creeds and Lutheran confessional writings, as the power of God to create and sustain the Church for God's mission in the world. How do I become a member of Zion? To become a member of Zion you should mark your interest in joining the church on your worship registration card, found in your bulletin each week, then put you card in the offering plate. The Pastor will then contact you and set up a time for a meeting. When you and the pastor meet he will ask several questions (birthday, interest, occupation, etc.) He will then ask you which Sunday and time is convenient for you to join. Zion usually takes in new members on the last Sunday of every month. Once you set up a date to join, you come to church that day a little early to meet with your sponsors. Your sponsor are there to help you through the first year of you life in the congregation, feel free to ask them any questions you may have. The time then comes when you are invited up front. You are asked a couple of question and then, congratulations, your a member of Zion.
